Your videos stay with you

Every video you pick stays on your phone. Here’s how that works, and how to check it yourself.

Your video is made smaller on your device

Your videos stay on your device. We never receive them. When you pick a video, your browser reads it from your device and makes the smaller copy right there, using your device’s own video chip. Nobody else receives it either. The page downloads the tool once, then does everything locally.

Check it in five seconds: airplane mode

Open the site, then turn on airplane mode. Pick a video and compress it. It still works, because nothing needs to be sent anywhere.

Check it like a developer: the browser lock

Every page carries a strict Content Security Policy that includes connect-src 'none'. That tells your browser to block the page from sending data to any server, including ours. It isn’t a promise from us; your browser enforces it. You can see it in the page source.

The tool’s code comes from our own domain, with an integrity check, and your browser keeps it after the first visit. That’s why it works offline.

What stays on your device

Nothing from your videos is kept: when you close the page, the copy it made is gone unless you saved it. The site remembers one thing in your browser’s own storage: dark mode, if you turned it on.

What we do record

Like any website, our hosting provider’s servers log basic requests: which page was asked for, when, and the browser type. We use these logs to count visits. Your videos are never in those logs, because they never leave your device.

We set one cookie, and only if you pick a language from the language menu. It is called lang and holds the language you picked, so the homepage opens in that language next time. It isn’t used for anything else and expires after a year.
